Autumn wedding in the Dordogne Valley,France:inspiration photo shoot - Part 1

Hi everyone!

Today I’ve got the first part in my autumn photo shoot to share with you. You have probably already guessed that I’m a bit of an autumn-addict, so perhaps I needn’t tell you how desperate I was to capture the seasonal colours whilst at their best and blend them with a bit of vintage styling. I enlisted the help of Dan Courtice, a talented local photographer. A friend of mine knew of the perfect location: an intimate, hidden lake in the middle of nowhere. What followed next was a bumpy off-road drive through the forest, I didn’t think the tyres on my car would make it! But when I got there it was SO worth it and the weather that day in mid-October was perfect.

I wanted this shoot to be simple, rustic and showing woodland-inspired wedding style...Pine cones, ferns, wild mushrooms, moss-covered rocks and plenty of autumn leaves- it was all there waiting for us! It just goes to show that nature can provide a stunning wedding look, with little effort and cost.

I added a few DIY decoration details, such as the hessian and lace bunting and wine-bottle cover, home-made buttonhole, some cute crockery, fresh flowers and just a touch of français. The lace dress and fur-stole added a bit of vintage style. So here’s what we got….

I made the DIY decorations myself and must give a huge THANK YOU to Sam for helping with the flowers and to Jo and Fi for their help with the props. For the photographer’s website go to http://www.penngraphics.info

Next week, I’ll be sharing Part 2 of this shoot, which took place just down the road from this lake at a beautiful chambre d’hôte (guesthouse) which caters for weddings.

In the meantime, I'd love to get your feedback about my photo shoot, please leave me a comment!
